Somewhere in Dreamland

Here's what I've drawn in the sketchbook in the last week or so - in no particular order.  I've been watching a lot of the 1930's cartoons particularly the Fleischer Out Of the Inkwell/Famous cartoons, and some of the Clampett Looney Tunes and Tex Avery shorts from the 40's. I suppose I shouldn't post this much all at once...whatever deal with it. :)

I really am sorry Steve Buscemi. Not that you're ever going to see this-you're a fantastic actor.

It Came From Facebook

Sometimes I post random illustrations for my Facebook friends and nowhere else. Here are some random illustrator pieces I've posted to the Facebook - and the full spaghetti monster from the test post.  I've got more sketches to share, but I'm lazy and haven't scanned them yet.

Surreal system containing chewing gum and fluid wooden blocks.

More Dinos and the Return of Snog the Fly

I felt like drawing a few more demented dinosaurs last night.  For no apparent reason I started doodling an old character of mine, snog the fly- a goofball character I used to draw back in high school. He liked to pop up when I was stressed out, couldn't sleep, or was pushing a deadline for an assignment. I guess it is still kicking around in my head somewhere.

It's weird to return to a character I used to draw years ago.

Here is the last known doodle of him. I found this on the backup drive, I think it was scanned 7-8 years ago...

Dino Heads

So... I tried out the moleskine sketchbook last night, I like it alot better. The only downfall, and I've always had this problem with moleskines, is any wet media sits on the surface before it dries.  Meaning, that if you're not careful ink will smudge.  It's a limitation I'm willing to work around. On the upside these two pages are front and back, almost no bleed through.

I neutralized the cream paper color to a white when I scanned these.  There's no reason not to draw dinosaurs. Off to work...

Sketches From a Lost Cause

I ran out of space in my last sketchbook. Feeling adventurous, I decided to give the Global Art Flexi-Sketch a try.  I wasn't particularly impressed with the paper but it seemed like a solidly bound soft cover sketchbook.... Or so I thought, about 4 days into using it the binding cracked. Instead of trying to mend it, I've decided to cut my losses, and try out the A4 folio Moleskine instead. I felt like preserving these pages.  Pentel Pocket Brush Pen and non-photo blue pencil. More pages after the jump...
